Facebook has now made its rise as a top Video Platform, only bested by Youtube. But the battle for supremacy means a load of advantages to video marketers who take advantage of each in a different way.


Currently, Youtube holds the title with the most views across all platforms, but the stats show that in fact Facebook has more views coming directly from the Desktop.


Youtube is built on the intent your users will go out and see specific content  for themselves, creating a more controlled viewer experience. This makes it the second biggest search engine in the world.... Yes, you've heard that right.


However, Facebook does something uniquelly different. The experience as a user to watch video on facebook is based on Facebook curating content for them. Using facebook's brilliant algorithm, the content is delivered based on users interests.


Youtube, you look for videos. Facebook, the videos find you.


This means as a marketer, your video content on facebook needs to be much more social. Focus less on selling, and more on value that's interesting to your user. This is what will keep you in your audiences feeds. 53% of all facebook video views comes from it's shares, so treat facebook with the right context.


As Gary Vaynerchuk once said "If Content is King, Context is GOD."


Don't sleep on Facebook, Facebook video posts has increased by 75% year by year globally. Also, with the announcement of Facebook's Embeddable video, this means that your Facebook videos can live outside of Facebook itself.


Facebook will eventually be creating original programming content like that of Amazon, Netflix and Youtube. What's clearly inevitable for facebook is to build it's identity as a Video platform. Much like Hulu, Youtube, Apple, Facebook will eventually develop it's own Video app, to live along side its main app and its messenger app.


As much as Facebook is knocking on the door, the competition is widening. Companies like Twitter and Snapchat are also getting into the mix.
